TASTE News Service, August 1, 2017 – Anchor Brewing Company will once again celebrate America's first craft beer, Anchor Steam Beer, with the return of Drink Steam Week August 13-20, 2017.

Back in 2015, the Mayor of San Francisco proclaimed the third week of August to be Drink Steam Week, celebrating Anchor's pioneering role in the American craft beer movement and continued commitment to brewing in San Francisco. In its third annual year, Drink Steam Week has continued to expand nationwide and will consist of events and happenings across the country celebrating Anchor's rich history.

"Drink Steam Week celebrates both Anchor Steam Beer and San Francisco; the beer that ushered in the craft movement and the city that embraced a unique and different take on beer." said Anchor Brewing CEO and President Matt Davenport. "Over its long and storied history, Anchor has maintained traditional brewing techniques and high quality standards and Anchor Steam Beer is the foundation of both Anchor Brewing and the American craft beer movement, and that's a legacy we can come together to celebrate."

While Drink Steam Week originated in San Francisco, festivities will take place nationwide and everyone is encouraged to raise an Anchor Steam and join the celebration. For a full list of events and special offerings happening throughout Drink Steam Week, visit www.drinksteam.com.

About Anchor Brewing Company

Anchor Brewing Company's roots date back to the California Gold Rush, making it one of America's oldest breweries. Its Anchor Steam Beer is San Francisco's original since 1896. In 1965, Fritz Maytag acquired and revived the struggling brewery at a time when mass production of beer dominated and seemed unstoppable. Maytag started a revolution in beer that originated today's craft beer movement. An undisputed icon, Anchor is America's first craft brewery where beers are handmade in our traditional copper brewhouse from an all-malt mash.
