Paso Robles Named Best Wine Country Town

The region’s winemakers, restaurateurs and hoteliers are said to be thrilled to be held in the highest regard among some of the West’s most recognized wine producing regions.

Paso Robles Wine Country, located along California’s famed Central Coast, is midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Established in 1983 with 17 wineries, Paso Robles currently has over 200 wineries and 40,000 vineyard acres. Paso’s welcoming accommodations range from full service hotels to quaint vineyard B&B’s. Farm--to-table cuisine is abundant, complemented by wines produced by wineries throughout Paso Robles wine country.

“As our fans know, and new visitors are sure to discover, the entire Paso Robles wine community is passionate about what we do and sharing it with our guests,” said Jennifer Porter, Executive Director of the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. “We are humbled and honored by this recognition, which recognizes the efforts of the entire Paso Robles community that comes together to create the Paso Robles Wine Country experience.”

Since its founding in 1898 by the Southern Pacific, Sunset Magazine has established itself as the West's most trusted source of travel information. The Sunset Travel Awards were introduced to honor excellence and innovation in the tourism industry across the 13 Western states, British Columbia, and Alberta. The Sunset Travel Awards focus the magazine's 4.5 million readers to the West's standout travel destinations, organizations, and businesses within 20 different categories. Winners of the 2016 Sunset Magazine Travel Awards will be featured in the August 2016 edition of Sunset Magazine.

Paso Robles also received recognition in 2013 as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Wine Region of the Year.
