Twisted Monk bottle Picmonkey

Twisted Monk

Dust Bowl Brewing Co.

Turlock, CA

Style: Belgian-style Abbey Ale

Alcohol: 7.7%

IBUs:

Serving style: 22-ounce bottles

Availability: Spring seasonal in Northern California

Appearance:   “Sort of a dark, reddish amber color. Creamy white head of ½-inch."

Aroma:   “There’s a cherry smell, but not like cherry candy or cherry pie. This is more of a sour cherry.”

Taste:   “There’s some hoppiness in there, but mostly what I get is a tartness . . . and more of that sour cherry character. Maybe that description doesn’t sound very good, but I really like the taste. It’s a sophisticated, sipping sort of beer, I’d say.”

Food Affinity:   “You could serve this in lieu of wine with some richer poultry dishes. Of course it would be a natural with any beef or pork recipes using cherries.”
