Dust Bowl Brewing

Turlock, California

Style: IPA

Alcohol: 7%

IBUs: 80

Serving style: kegs and 12-oz bottles

Availability: Year round in Central Valley of California and some beyond

Appearance:   “Deep golden or maybe amber colored with a creamy, off-white head.”

Aroma:   “Interesting balance of hops and malt here. There’s some citrus and pine from the hops, but a sweet and maybe toffee-like maltiness to balance it.”

Taste:   “Plenty of hops for IPA fans, but the offsetting malt may be off-putting to a few of them. I like it, though. There’s enough hops to satisfy me and I find the finish both bitter and clean.”

Food Affinity:   “We’re close to Cinco de Mayo and I’m thinking Mexican food (a lot of Mexican beer I’ve experienced has a nice malty element, as does this IPA). A chicken mole would be great, I think. Enchiladas Suizas is a very different recipe from mole, but I think it would also work.”
