“Beads of pinpoint bubbles rise through attractive light pink (or rosé) color in the glass. Initial deep fruit aromas that evoke roses and raspberries yield to a toasty, yeasty personality. Those fine bubbles provide counterpoint to the almost creamy feeling in the mid-palate. To our taste, that toasty finish almost bordered on the bitter and we think that the Riverbench Brut Rosé will appeal more to those fans of sparkling wines from Champagne, than those more in the typical California style. At a suggested price of $42, it’s not out of line for a vintage sparkler, but there’s a lot of competition out there in the non-vintage category for considerably less.”

“This sparkling wine is made in the méthode Champenoise from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that were estate grown in the Santa Maria Valley of Santa Barbara County. The location on California’s Central Coast receives considerable marine influence and is cooler than many realize. As such, it is prime growing country for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
