Washington, D.C., January 20. 2017 – A diverse group of dignitaries gathered for lunch today, following the swearing in ceremony for the country’s 45th President, Donald J. Trump.

Former Presidents, Cabinet nominees and members of Congress were joined by less-identifiable invitees in Statuary Hall, just off the Capitol Rotunda.


Even if not every state in the Union was represented, the food was sourced from many parts of the country. We couldn’t trace the provenance of the chocolate for the dessert soufflé, but for the first course Maine provided lobster, the Gulf State area the shrimp and the peanuts were presumably from one of the southern states. Beef for the main course was raised in Virginia. The meal featured a different California wine to be poured with each course.
