“This sparkling Moscato was a sample shipped on behalf of its American importers. Tasting all wines sent the magazine is a matter of professionalism, but we did not anticipate much from this one. Pink? Sweet? Fizzy? Trendiest grape in the business? In spite of being all of these, we really like the Zibibbo Sparkling Pink Moscato.”

“This wine is made from Muscat of Alexander grapes and it, like all Muscat varieties, is very fragrant. Here were floral aromas like those of citrus and peach blossoms and freshly-sliced strawberries. It was sweet, but not cloying. Perhaps the bubbles and good acidity offset some of the anticipated excessive sweetness. We found flavors reminiscent of peach, strawberry and—possibly surprisingly—some aspects of a crisp green apple.

Food affinity: Definitely more of an aperitif or after-dinner treat than a companion to a main course, there are still foods this wine would enhance. After initial analytical tasting, we tried it again with home-made lemon bars from a buffet table. The combination was delightful. Stay away from chocolate, but you can try pouring with a variety of not-too-sweet desserts, especially those having citrus or stone-fruit ingredients.
