TASTE News Service, November 13, 2019 – Holiday memories are waiting to be made in Sonoma County.

Holidays Along the Farm Trails will kick off November 14 and run through January 1. Sonoma County Farm Trails hosts this annual, free event, and is relieved to report none of their member farms were affected by the recent wildfires.

Holidays Along the Farm Trails is a self-guided "choose your own" adventure through Sonoma County's scenic backroads and byways. Most locations and events are free of charge, but guests must register to gain access to a map of participating locations. Participants will have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes peek at dozens of farms and agricultural businesses, meet the hard-working folks who produce the foo, and have access to agricultural products to take home and enjoy.

This is an ideal outing for groups of friends and family to shop farm stands for ingredients for holiday meals, find the perfect Christmas tree, make gifts at DIY workshops, greet farm animals, and so much more. Farm stands will be open for fresh-from-the-source seasonal purchases from local farmers' harvests.  Home cooks will be able to purchase some of the best ingredients for holiday menus including pasture-raised meats, produce, cheese, olive oil, heirloom beans, polenta, and more.  The Holiday Farm Trails also lead to several wineries, breweries, and cideries where visitors will find the perfect holiday pairing and gifts.

About Sonoma County Farm Trails:  With its mission to help ensure the continuing economic viability of Sonoma County agriculture by instilling an appreciation of agriculture as a vital part of the community and lifestyle, Farm Trails was established in 1973 by local Sonoma County farmers to create community among food producers and establish a stronger connection between farmers and the public. Farm Trails continues to serve as a local resource, producing Sonoma County's premier agricultural map and guide. The organization's primary annual fundraiser is the Gravenstein Apple Fair, celebrating the heirloom apple and Sonoma County's rural traditions. Signature events include farm-to-fork feasts, and seasonal farm tours like "Blossoms, Bees, & Barnyard Babies" in the spring, "Weekends Along the Farm Trails" in the fall, and "Holidays Along the Farm Trails" in the winter.
