Half Moon Bay Coastside Opens Up

TASTE News Service, June 23, 2020 – The Half Moon Bay Coastside has reopened for tourism, welcoming leisure travelers to this coastal escape located 45 minutes south of San Francisco.

Spokespeople for the area tell us that visitors can safely enjoy hotels, restaurants, shops, and outside recreation. All businesses have health and safety protocols in place according to the guidelines of the San Mateo County Health Department.

"We are so happy to welcome back visitors to the Half Moon Bay Coastside," said Krystlyn Giedt, President & CEO of the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce & Visitors' Bureau. "Our businesses are very excited to serve and are committed to protecting the health and welfare of guests and our local community. We look forward to everyone being able to enjoy our beaches, farm fresh food, and array of outdoor adventure."

With nearly 25 miles of beaches, a plethora of outside activities, and a wide range of accommodations, this may be the ideal place for a serene summer vacation. "The ocean is known to have the power to improve physical, mental, and emotional well-being, which is what people desperately need at this time," said Dana Dahl, President of the Half Moon Bay Business Improvement District. "We look forward to providing the safe and tranquil escape that travelers are craving."

From a five-star luxury resort to intimate inns and seaside retreats, travelers can select from many lodging options for a relaxing getaway from the daily stressors of life. Lodging offers something for everyone and every budget - romantic couple escapes, fun-filled family vacations, as well as peaceful solo retreats.

The Coastside boasts a wide range of cuisines with many incorporating just-picked ingredients from local farms. This area is famous for fresh seafood directly from the docks. Diners can also choose from food styles from around the world such as Italian, Mediterranean, French, Thai, Indian, and much more. Restaurants are beginning to reopen their dining rooms, and many more are already open for outdoor dining and takeout/delivery.

Historic Main Street provides an opportunity for visitors to give back to support family-owned businesses offering goods that can only be found locally. A sampling open for business include gift stores, surf shops, bookstores, art galleries and tasting rooms.

With temperate weather year-round, the Coastside has an expansive selection of outdoor activities, allowing for proper social distancing while enjoying the fresh open air. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding on the beach, golfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and other activities. Most beach parking lots and bathrooms are now open.
